Carmen Murillo-Moyeda

Public Affairs Marketing Specialist

Joining Cal State San Bernardino’s Office of Public Affairs team in 2007, Carmen Murillo-Moyeda is the marketing specialist responsible for marketing the university’s new unified visual identity through presentations to campus users. She is also responsible for integrating social media networks to promote CSUSB as the university of choice.

Murillo-Moyeda writes news releases, is a contributing writer of CSUSB magazine, and is one of the media contacts for the university. She assists with the production and dissemination of the Faculty Experts and Speakers’ Guide in print and Web form; and collaborates on the production of print and video marketing tools for student recruitment. She also participates in the campus’s Quality Improvement initiatives representing the Office of Public Affairs in system-wide surveys of customer satisfaction, among other initiatives.

Prior to joining the Office of Public Affairs, she served as a trainer of employee development in the university’s department of human resources, facilitating workshops on a variety of professional development topics. As a quality improvement facilitator for the CSU system, Murillo-Moyeda represented CSUSB, implementing initiatives such as process mapping, the Balanced Scorecard and performance measurement.

A true advocate for diversity issues, Murillo-Moyeda is also a certified diversity trainer from the National Multicultural Institute in Washington, D.C., and has served as a campus diversity trainer since 2002.

Other prior service at Cal State San Bernardino includes an analyst position in the university’s accounting department, where she provided budgetary support and led the department’s quality improvement initiatives.

Murillo-Moyeda actively serves on various campus committees and task force groups, including the University Diversity Committee, which promotes diversity issues and recognizes outstanding contributions. She is currently serving on the city of San Bernardino’s Bicentennial public relations sub-committee representing CSUSB for the 200th anniversary celebration slated in 2010, assisting with news releases and marketing of the event.

An active member of the campus’s Association of Latino Faculty, Staff and Students, Murillo-Moyeda has served as an advocate for higher education and mentor of underrepresented groups. In addition, she is a commissioned notary public and member of the National Notary Association, is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Society of Training and Development.

Murillo-Moyeda earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication studies from CSUSB and teaches in the communication studies department as adjunct instructor.
