Sid Robinson is assistant vice president, public affairs at California State University, San Bernardino. With nearly 25 years experience in corporate and agency public relations, Robinson is an award-winning PR pro with extensive experience in managing everything from event planning and media relations to crisis communications and issues management.

Robinson is the university’s chief public affairs official and serves on the president’s cabinet. He oversees the CSUSB Office of Public Affairs, managing public relations, communications, media relations, emergency communications, branding, graphic design and publications activities for Cal State San Bernardino.

Previously, he was account director at Magnet Communications, providing public relations counsel for a variety of clients, including Technicolor, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Caltrans and Master-Halco. He specialized in corporate public relations, media training and crisis communications management.

Robinson served as communications and public relations manager at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., home of the Los Angeles County Fair, from 1993-2000 and was Fairplex media relations manager from 1986-1990. He was responsible for all media relations, community relations, internal communications at Fairplex and he served as the organization’s official spokesperson. Robinson was instrumental in orchestrating the appearance by President George W. Bush at the Los Angeles County Fair during the 2000 presidential campaign.

Robinson was a broadcasting and publications assistant for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1990-1993, overseeing and editing several Dodger publications and serving as a liaison with stations throughout the Dodger radio network. He also worked in the public relations departments at Hollywood Park and Los Alamitos racetracks.

His public relations programs and projects were recognized with “Best of Show” honors from the PRSA California Inland Empire Chapter in 1999 and Public Communicators of Los Angeles in 1998. He has also won the Press Club of Southern California’s public relations sweepstakes award an unprecedented four times, and he has won numerous PRSA chapter awards.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a master’s degree in public relations from the University of Southern California, where he was named “Graduate Student of the Year.” He is an accredited member (APR) of the Public Relations Society of America and a past president of PRSA’s California Inland Empire Chapter. Previously, he was the chapter’s national assembly delegate also served on PRSA’s Western District board of directors. In addition, Robinson serves as vice president of the Claremont Dugout Club and is on the board of directors of the Southern California Winter Baseball Association. He served on the Upland National Little League board of directors for a decade, and has served as a board member for a variety of other civic and nonprofit organizations.
